Crazy Fit Kids

Tuesdays beginning July 10th
Grades 1-4 at 6pm, Grades 5-8 at 7pm
It's time to start training to be a stronger, healthier you! This boot camp inspired kids class is designed to get you moving and having a blast! Join Powerhouse Gym certified trainer Billy as you work out and have fun! Register by July 6 2018 2:30 pm

Junk Drawer Science

Tuesdays,  July 10, August 14

Grades K-2@ 6 pm, Grades 3-5@ 7 pm

Join Engineer Rachel as she guides kids through some fun science experiments! Pre-registration is required, spaces limited. This is a FREE program but donations are accepted! Resident Registration opens Monday, April 23rd, Non-residents can register 2 weeks before program start date. No-shows will be dropped from any future program dates. Volunteers needed! Gymnastics for Ages 2-12

Mondays beginning June 25th

Ages 2-4 at 1pm, ages 5-7 at 2pm and ages 8-12 at 3pm
Don't wait to sign up for this exciting class! Participants will learn basic tumbling skills while making new friends. Each class is 45 minutes and class runs for 7 weeks(with no class week of July 4th).
Cost is $60 Residents and $72 Non-residents and includes program t-shirt and instruction.

1-day Guitar Class

June 26th 6 pm – 8 pm

Third graders all the way up to Seniors are invited to bring in your guitar that you always said you’d learn to play and take the steps to actually playing it! This class will teach the basics of tuning, technique and you’ll even learn a few chords! Multiple teachers will be available to assist people from different age groups. Please bring your guitar (acoustic preferred), extra strings, picks and notebook. A tuner and a tune up at a music shop preferred. Cost is $20 resident, $25 non-resident. Have questions? Guitar Classes

Beginner Grades 3-6th at 6 pm

Beginner Grades 7 through adults and seniors at 7 pm

Intermediate All Ages at 8 pm

Starting August 7th

Join Aaron as he guides you through the beginning steps of learning to play the guitar in this 8 week class! Please bring your guitar (acoustic preferred), extra strings, picks and notebook. A tuner and a tune up at a music shop preferred. If you have 1-2 years prior experience, can play open chords, and can name notes to 5th fret then the intermediate class is for you! For all classes a workbook will be provided and student must practice at home between classes. Cost is $80 for residents, $90 for non-residents.

Private Music Lessons – All Ages

Students who are too young to join a class or anyone wanting to learn more about the instrument that they have been meaning to pick up can sign up for lessons! Teachers available for Guitar, Drums, Brass, Voice, Piano (up to intermediate), Trombone, Mandolin and Ukulele. Contact the Activity Center at 586.296.8483 or and let us know your instrument of choice and preferred times and we will match you up with an instructor! Price varies according to instrument and instructor.

All Ages Music Ensembles

We are gathering information for people interested in joining a community music ensemble! Whether you played in high school and would love to pick it back up, or you’re learning an instrument and want more opportunities to play, fill out the form at and when we get enough to form an ensemble we will contact you!

Summer Programs

Programs will begin the week of June 25th and end the week of August 6th. No program on 4th of July Week. Ages determined as of December 1st, Grade level determined by the 2018-19 school year. Payment plans available, contact the office for arrangements. Updates will be given to phone numbers and email addresses provided at registration. Additional T-Shirts may be purchased for $7 each at the time of registration. Registrations after June 8th will have a $9 late fee. The Recreation Department reserves the right to change locations, times or combine grade levels when necessary. Refunds before program start will be minus $5 administrative cost and any supply cost if applicable. No refunds after 72 hours before start of program.

Youth Summer Program Registration still available for most programs! All Summer registrations after 6/8/18 will have a $9 late fee and no shirt will be provided. If you choose to purchase the shirt, it will be $10 extra to cover the increased cost we incur from single tshirt prints.

Summer Playground Program (Ages 6-13)

Mon., Tues.  & Thurs. @ Steffens Park Fort Fraser, Wed. @ Somerset Pool

9-3 pm with extended times available

This program includes daily activities such as arts & crafts, sports, games and more! Children must be signed in and out by a parent/guardian and we recommend that they bring a lunch and/or snacks daily. On Wednesdays we will meet at Somerset Pool for a day of swimming and will have the option to purchase a pizza lunch for $3. Children must wear their program shirt every day. Additional shirts are available for purchase.

9am – 3pm: $290 Residents, $330 Non-Res (that’s between $12-$14 per day!) Extended time from 8-9am and 3-5pm is an additional $180.

T-ball & Coach Pitch

Tuesday and Thursday Nights, T-Ball @ 6:15 PM, Coach Pitch @ 7:30 PM

T-Ball (Ages 6-7) and Coach Pitch (Ages 8-10) are team based programs which will offer skill-building practices and a regular season game schedule. All practices and games will take place at Fraser High School's softball fields. Participants must bring their own glove and helmet. This program is staff coached, but parent volunteers are needed. $60 Residents, $73 Non-Residents

3v3 Basketball (Grades 1-8)

Monday and Wednesday Mornings, Grades 1-2 @ 9 AM, Grades 3-4 @ 10 AM, Grades 5-6 @ 11 AM, Grades 7-8 @ 12 PM

This 3v3 program will teach and enforce skill development while playing 2-3 games a day after a week or two of drills and practices. Location TBD. $60 Residents, $70 Non-Residents

Little Sluggers (Ages 4-5)

Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5:15 PM @ Richards Middle School Diamonds

This 45-minute program will be a fun introduction to the basics of T-Ball while also teaching how to work as a team. This program is staff coached, but parent volunteers are needed. Participants must bring their own glove and helmet. $50 Residents, $60 Non-Residents

Little Kickers (Ages 4-5)

Tuesday and Thursday Mornings, Session I @ 10 AM, Session II @ 11 AM

Steffens Park, at the Willow Pavilion

This 45-minute program will be an introduction to the basics of soccer. This program is staff coached, but parent volunteers are needed. $50 Residents, $60 Non-Residents

Girls Sand Volleyball (Grades 4-8)

Tuesday and Thursday Mornings, Grades 4-5 @ 10 AM, Grades 6-8 @ 11 AM

Steffens Park Volleyball Courts

This program will help aspiring volleyball players practice drills and sharpen skills in practices and games. All volleyball sessions will take place at the sand volleyball court at Steffens Park near the Fraser VFW Hall. This program is staff coached, parent volunteers are welcome. $60 Residents, $73 Non-Residents

Cheerleading (Grades K-6)

Wednesday Nights, Grades K-2 @ 6 PM, Grades 3-5 @ 7 PM

Cheering is high energy fun! Join our cheerleading coaches in learning cheers and making friends!  $45 Residents, $58 Non-Residents

Tennis (Ages 6-12)

Mondays and Wednesdays, Beginners @ 10 AM, Intermediate @ 11 AM

This is a five-week instructional tennis program for beginner and intermediate tennis players. Participants are required to bring their own tennis racquet. Location TBD. $55 Residents, $68 Non- Residents.

Simply Sports (Grades K-1)

Tuesdays & Thursdays 12:15pm, location varies

Kids grades K-2 will have a blast playing 7 different sports over 6 weeks! Most sports will have one day of practices and one day for the game. Sports covered will be Basketball, Tball, soccer, Floor Hockey, Flag Football, Bowling and Mini Golf. This program is staff coached, but parent volunteers are needed. Cost is $73 Residents, $85 Non-Residents.

Sport Mashup (Grades 2-8)

Mondays and Wednesdays Grades 2-4pm 6:00 pm, Grades 5-8 7:30 pm Location Varies

Kids grades 2-4, 5-8 will have a blast playing 12 different sports over 6 weeks! Each session will have a half hour going over basics of the sport and 45 minutes of game play. This is a great program for kids to try out different sports to see which ones they really enjoy! Sports covered: Flag Football, Kickball, Dodgeball, Soccer, Basketball, Volleyball, Floor Hockey, Softball, Tennis, Rugby, Bowling and Mini-golf. This program is staff coached, but parent volunteers are needed. $73 Residents, $85 Non-Residents
